この陰鬱な気分の中、久しぶりに「Rage Against The Machine」が聴きたくなってしまいました。
やっぱ、いいですね！！！
「機械に対する怒り」が伝わってきます。
ミクスチャーの元祖みたいな言われ方してますが、やっぱ、ソリッドなベース・ドラムにセンセーショナルなギター・・・、単なるミクスチャーじゃないですね。哲学的な深みさえ感じます。
誰かが、RATM（日本ではレイジというのが一般的かな）はレッドツェッペリンとパブリックエナミーを足して２で割ったようだと言ってましたが、確かにサウンドは、レッドツェッペリンに影響されてるかもしれません。概ね歌詞はかなり過激で、パブリックエナミーより知的な印象を受けます。アメリカの若者が熱狂したのもなんとなくわかります。
まあ、ちょっと政治色が強くてと敬遠する向きもありますが、これはこれで僕は楽しんでます。
ちなみに、このジャケットには、ベトナム戦争前夜の1963年、南ベトナム、ゴ・ディン・ジェム政権の仏教徒に対する弾圧に抗議して、高僧、釋廣( ティック・クアン・ドック）がガソリン焼身自殺を図った時の様子をマルコム・ブラウンというアメリカのジャーナリストが撮った写真が使われています。
よくご存じのない方にお勧めは、７曲目の「Wake Up」です。
映画「マトリックス」のエンディングで流れた曲です。
お聴きになれば、「ああ、知ってる！」という方も多いのではないでしょうか？
ソリッドでかつ非常に洗練された音です。

ちなみに、このバンドのメンバーのひとりに、Tom Morelloという人がいるのですが、この人は、ハーバード大卒の超インテリで、なおかつ、筋金入りの”Antifascist”なんですね。こちらをご覧ください。
”Nazi lives don’t matter”ですって！
そういえば、レイジを検索すると、妙に、↓のようなモチーフがたくさん出てくるんです。
これって「アンティファ」のトレードマークですよね。
Black Lives Matter運動の背後にAntifaがいるらしいので、彼も関係しているかもしれませんね。
